VICTORY DAY IS NEAR

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

First of all, I need to thank all of our awesome prayer warriors out there for lifting our daughter up, GOD IS ANSWERING ALL OUR PRAYERS AND SHE IS WINNING!! Alot has happened in the last week. Medically, Boey is doing incredibly well. Right now her platelets are the lowest they’ve ever been, she might need a platelet transfusion if they dont’ come up by tomorrow. Normal is 200,000 and up..she’s at 37,000, so we are being extra cautious with everything she does(this is caused from the big chemo). The miraculous news is that her white blood cell counts are almost normal and this is during her lowest point. It’s so reassuring to know her immune system is almost where it should be(referring to white cell count)and that’s even after her big chemo, so awesome!! As far as the toxicity from the chemo causing peripheal neuropathy in both her feet and fingers, she is fighting that off too and getting stronger everyday with PT and daily exercises. The docs say it could take up to a year or two for her to be able to run with the other kids, but knowing our lil warrior she’ll make sure she beats those odds too..she’s already healing at a faster rate than other kids…the docs are really amazed at how well she is doing overall. We knew this tumor never stood a chance, and now her victory day is almost here!!

Last week she was getting her small chemo, and we think her tolerance level of even this is going down. Thank GOD we are near the end, because she’s NEVER thrown up from the small chemo(only the big ones), it was heartbreaking. All of us were trying to reassure her and tell her how close she was, and that’s when the doc spoke up and said “yes Boey girl, only one more small one after this”. Boey immediately looked up with tears in her eyes and said “what did you say? only one more small one? I’m making all the doctors and nurses a cake and we are going to party”!! IT WAS SOOOO CUTE!! I thought she had more also, but the doc explained that after the last small one tomorrow, she has two big overnight chemos left, and in between those she gets a break from the small one. I wish they’d communicate better with us about these things, but right now we are so excited knowing tomorrow is her last small chemo, we are ELATED!! Boey is doing her Daughtry Dance til the end of time..she’s sooooo excited and ready to be DONE!! WE ALL ARE!!

I want to share a really great uplifting story. Last week, all Boey did was talk about going to school..wanting her normal life back, missing all her friends, and just wanting to be in school in the worst way. I talked to the docs and they said as long as her counts are up, she can go. Even though we knew this..we’ve been keeping her out cause we are to scared she will get sick with even high counts. Well..last week, her counts were perfect. After Rob and I talked it through, and seeing how important it was to Boey, we called the school and met with her new teacher! She LOVED her new teacher and immediately said “mom, she reminds me of grandma, I LOVE HER”!! AWWWWWW..I knew right then she was going to have an amazing school year. That’s the HUGEST compliment anyone could ever get..to remind Boey of her special grammie. She’s one of a kind!! So last Wednesday morning, she was getting ready for her shot and blurted out “it’s okay!! Just give me the shot, I dont’ care if I’m not numb, I can’t be LATE FOR SCHOOL..HURRRYYY”!!! It was so awesome seeing her that excited about school. For a brief moment that morning, we experienced a little bit of our normal life before cancer(just the actions of getting her ready for school were very emotional). We have so much to look forward to after this evil tumor is gone forever!! Before she went out the door, she grabbed her new “Chrissy rocker wallet chain” and keychain with a pic of her Chrissy, and hooked it onto her pant leg and the other end to her back pocket. She was beaming and said “I’ll never go anywhere without you Chrissy, I’ll always keep you close,”. OMGGGGOSH!! IT WAS SO ADORABLE!!! Between wearing her Chrissy rocker wallet and breaking out her little Daughtry Dance, she had the perfect start to the day!! She stayed the entire day at school and had a BLAST!! She still talks about how fun it was..we are thrilled!! Not sure how many days she’ll go this upcoming week due to her blood counts, but we do know she can’t wait to “get her normal life back”, her VICTORY day is so CLOSE!

Continue to pray for complete healing and protection, especially the side effects from the chemo(now and in the future). We have recently had a few more consults with oncologists and surgeons(from other hospitals). It was very reassuring and encouraging to know we are making the right decisions for our daughter and that she is doing so phenomenal. I will write more about the consults and where we are headed with the next surgery and what it all means in the next couple days. Thank YOU to each and everyone of you who have prayed and supported us through this difficult time. I hope you realize how much it means to our family and that we couldn’t have done it without you.

Right now, our lil butt kickin cancer warrior continues to face this cancer monster head on with a fierce determination and strength that is far beyond her years. We have all learned so much from our precious warrior, she is a gift from above, and a force to be reckoned with here on earth.

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY YOU WILL THE HEAR THE SCREAMS OF JOY ON NOV 21ST WHEN SHE WILL BE DECLARED CANCER FREE!!! WHAT A DAY IT’LL BE!! HER CHRISSY’S CD DEBUT RELEASE(she can’t wait to hear his new songs..neither can we:)AND A CANCER FREE CELEBRATION FOR OUR INCREDIBLE MINDBLOWING LITTLE WARRIOR!! SOMETHING TELLS ME WILL ALL BE DOING THE DAUGHTRY DANCE THAT DAY WITH BOEY AS THE LEAD DANCER!!! WE LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH BOEY GIRL!!!

Thank you to Grandpa James and everyone in Grand parents pass.(Grants Pass)

Well Have not updated in a while. Things are going pretty well here, however my hard drive bit the dust so I had to do some work to get my computer up and running.

I wanted to get a post about the most awesome, caring, giving people in Grants Pass Oregon, hometown of James Sargent , Rachels Father. He litterally broke his back and conscripted the help of many friends and coworkers and family to put on the biggest garage sale I have ever seen. Donations of many items as well as cash to help our family with medical and living expenses were generously given.

James called the week before to say how well it was going but I did not know how well until we got there. There was so much stuff I couldnt believe it. Incredible!!!!!!!

Unfortunately the software I need to put pics on here is yet to be recovered. But suffice it to say that the turnout both in donations, volunteers, and at the sale itself was incredible. Thank you to everyone!!

Special thanks to James and Lynne, SOFCU, Budget Rentals, DnD portaPotty,JSt. Ministorage,Small Miracles, Quiltz4kids, and American Cart and Harness.

In addition to these business thank you for the kindness and hard work of James, and Lynne, Isaiah, Leah, Brandi Williamson, Katie and Arnie Mount, Katie Wetzel and Sister Trish, Kelly Tyler, Cheryl Smith, Laurie Cassad, The Eagle Riders Christian Mortorcycle Club, Cassie Czekala, Dawn, Brent Lee, Carol Franko, Sierra Borta, Dave Bassett, Steve I and his bro Dave, Barry and Penny, Rich and Sandi Mendes, Alex Kozlowski, Michael Stattel and all the wonderful people who came to the sale. Many ppl actually paid MORE than we asked for the items and many people dropped off good quality items to sell. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

We were very impressed, touched, and blessed by the people of the community. Many people had wonderful stories to tell us and encouragement and little gifts for our family and little Warrior.

A couple touching ones for me was the beautiful wedding dress that someone gave to Boey personally “For Her Wedding” *tear

Another was the Awesome guys from The Eagle Riders Christian Motorcycle Club, who rode over from Medford to help most all of the day, conspired with James and brought my boys some brand new bikes!!!

Needless to say each of the Byers family was very very touched.

THANK YOU!!!
