EVENT ALERT  COLD STONE CREAMERY HOSTS THE SEVENTH ANNUAL WORLD’S LARGEST ICE CREAM SOCIAL  Free Ice Cream Served Up on September 27th in Corvallis and Stores Nationwide

  EVENT:         Cold Stone Creamery^® will host the “World’s Largest Ice Cream Social,” a fundraising event to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of America and local chapters across the country.      On Saturday, September 27th, Cold Stone Creamery in Corvallis invite ice cream lovers to experience the joy of ice cream at a nostalgic event that promises wholesome family entertainment, fun activities and lots of ice cream!   This year’s celebration will include the choice of two different 3 oz. creations developed by two wish children.  The creations were developed using two of Cold Stone Creamery’s new ice cream flavors, Nutter Butter^® and Marshmallow. 

 Wish child, Emily developed the Creation made with Nutter Butter ice cream mixed with yellow cake, KitKats^® and white chocolate chips.   While wish child Jack combined marshmallow ice cream mixed with OREO^® cookies, chocolate chips and fudge to create the treat named for him.  Between 2 and 6 p.m., customers joining in the festivities at any store will receive a free serving (3oz) of either Emily or Jack’s Creation, while being encouraged to make a donation to this worthy cause.  Donations that night and all month long will benefit the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

The Believe For Boey Foundation is a REALITY. The foundation has been established as a Charity to help improve the quality of life for children and families suffering from pediatric cancer. It is our mission to provide financial, spiritual, emotional and educational support to everyone in need. In order to do this we have set up an online community where people can do all of these things together.  The website is now public and we need your help!   Many of you have heard that we will be raising money for the charity and our outreach efforts by selling teddy bears. This is true. We are currently finishing the final elements of Boeys Bears. Boeys Bears is a wonderful place where you can purchase teddy bears and other charitable gifts for yourself or you can donate them to families and children in need. The website will be part of the charity “Believe For Boey Foundation”. This will be our main funding source beside charitable donations. We anticipate that the site will be live online by September 23rd, 2008. The website can be accessed from www.believeforboey.org as well as its main address www.BoeysBears.com. Please bear with us as we make our preparations for this launch, we know you are as eager as we are.

Additionally; Many of you are very eager to deliver teddy bears to children around the world. Thankyou for your loving kind hearts, but right now we are asking PLEASE do not do this at this time of preparation. Families and children suffering from cancer have so much they are dealing with on so many levels, we want to approach them with the upmost respect, care, compassion, love, and sensitivity. We ask that you do not proceed with any independent efforts to reach out in this way. Believe for Boey foundation is developing an international program to deliver resources, love, spiritual guidance, and smiles to families and children in need. The program is a delicate matter and has taken a great deal of time and energy to develop. We anticipate that within the next 6 months we will roll out this program that will allow “approved” individuals to participate. Please watch the website www.believeforboey.org to learn more. The best thing that you can do for these families for now is to make a donation to The Believe for Boey Foundation, your money will go directly to families and children suffering from pediatric cancer. 1. What is the MileStones Virtual Walk for 12,500 to Conquer Childhood Cancer?
The Virtual Walk for 12,500 is an online effort to unite people across the country in the fight against childhood cancer.  During September National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, our challenge is to bring together 12,500 individuals virtually in honor of the 12,500 children who are diagnosed each year.

2.  What is the timeline for reaching the 12,500?
Because September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, we are determined to reach our goal of 12,500 people joined together in support of childhood cancer research from September 1 to September 30.

3. If I already participate in a MileStones Walk  can I still participate in the virtual walk?
Yes! And we hope you will. The MileStones Virtual Walk for 12,500 is a targeted effort during the month of September and is taking place only on the web.  If you have participated in a walk before, please log in using your previous login name and password to have access to your address book.

4. Can anyone participate in the MileStones Virtual Walk for 12,500? 
YES!  That is the wonderful thing about the MileStones Virtual walk for 12,500, friends and family can join together from all over the globe by participating as a virtual walker or supporting a team or participant via the web.

5. Do I need to form a team to participate in the MileStones Virtual Walk for 12,500?
No. This campaign is truly about bringing together 12,500 people, either as virtual walkers or supporters. However, forming a team can be a great way to fundraise for the virtual walk. Walking on the web as a team and raising money together can be great fun!

6. What is the minimum age to participate? 
There is no minimum age for virtual walkers or supporters.  Children who wish to get involved as a virtual walker or supporter are encouraged to do so with the help of an adult, as you will need a credit card to participate online.

7. Does CureSearch help with fundraising?
Yes. Once you register for the walk you are able to set up a personal fundraising page to help you reach your goals. Registered participants also have access to fundraising tips and ideas and are included in coaching messages sent via e-mail regularly.

8. Where does the money go that is raised through the MileStones Virtual Walk for 12,500?
Money raised through this and other CureSearch sponsored events is used to support the lifesaving research of the Children’s Oncology Group.  The Children’s Oncology Group is the world’s largest cooperative cancer research organization. Together, we are committed to conquering childhood cancer through scientific discovery and compassionate care.

9. What is the Children’s Oncology Group?
CureSearch Children’s Oncology Group is a network of more than 5,000 physicians, nurses, and scientists whose collaboration, research and care have turned childhood cancer from a virtually incurable disease to one with an overall 78% cure rate

10. Is there a minimum fundraising amount?
No. However, we encourage each participant to raise a minimum of $125. When you register you will be charged a $10 registration fee.

11. Will I receive any prizes or rewards for raising money in support of the 12,500?
Yes, we want to reward you for all your hard work! Participants who raise a minimum of $50 will receive a personalized certificate of appreciation and those who raise $250 and above will receive a certificate and a CureSearch duffle bag.

12. Can I hold events in my community to help raise awareness about the virtual walk?
Yes. Spreading the word about raising funds for childhood cancer research is always a great thing. If you do plan to hold an event to spread the word about the MileStones Virtual Walk for 12,500 please encourage all those that you invite to go on the website and register as a virtual walker or donate to your team. Remember our goal is to reach 12,500 individuals in support of childhood cancer research in the month of September.

13. How can I spread the word and help CureSearch reach the goal of 12,500?
Once you sign up as a virtual walker you will find tools in your participant center to help get you started. We encourage you to use this tool to send e-mails to all your friend, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc., and ask them to join you in the fight to conquer childhood cancer by joining your team or supporting you by making an online contribution.

 Wow, the neverending messages of love, prayers and support are so healing and comforting to our family. Our hearts ache for our daughter so to see the outpouring of love for her and who she is and all she accomplished and how she touched lives is beyond anything we can describe. It’s like a touch of heaven for us, and we are so grateful. I wanted to share just a few from the hundreds of messages we receive on here and in our personal email. Boey is one busy girl in heaven:). The way ABC continues to air the show every other week throughout the world is absolutely phenomenal, we are blown away. God has truly taken something meant for bad and turned into good for all those that love him and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

Boey radiates Christ’s love and continues to captivate people by the light of God’s kingdom that she shines forth. It’s so absolutely amazing. Everyone wants to know how we are and we appreciate the concern so much. God is carrying us through the most heartwrenching pain and he is healing our broken hearts. He is transforming our families hearts to be used in a mighty way for his Kingdom. Our pain and scars are beautiful to him and they have and will continue to be used for his complete glory. The boys are doing well. They miss their baby sister tremendously. God has given them some amazing musical gifts and they are very excited to use them for God’s glory and sharing Boey’s testimony of unwavering faith and love for Jesus. Chris is a songwriter, can sing beautifully, and is a genius guitarist. He is very excited about the gifts the Lord has given him. Joe rocks out on his drumset and is very interested in playing bass. He has picked up drums so quickly and loves rockin out! He says it’s therapeutic for him. They are very talented and completely on fire for God. Boey is so proud of her brothers! 

We apologize for the foundation taking longer than expected. We are trying so hard to get it up and running, it’s alot more complicated than we expected. Sometimes the grief takes over and it’s harder to do all the paperwork, but we are really making an effort with God’s strength to get this done. It’s going to be absolutely AMAZING!! God is going to use the foundation in HUUUGE ways to bless other families and help them in their time of need. It’s a beautiful way to keep Boey’s amazing precious legacy alive. She was very excited about her foundation, and had huge dreams. Ive just finished watching the episode of Extreme Makeover with the Byers family story in. Although each episode touches my heart, I found this episode to be one Ill not forget. The remarkable courage, and inspiration Boey showed in the hour’s episode, was enough for me to feel humbled, that a child of 8 can have such strength and determination, where as an adult I dont even have a quater of that in me. Her concern and care for others is an example for us to follow. An early part of the episode showed Ty asking Boey what she liked to do, I think she said “I like to pray.” That brought a tear of gladness to my eye. A beautiful little girl of such strong faith, even though she was going through so much, she continued to do God’s work, and I knew at that min whatever the outcome was to be, she was already assured a place in God’s Kingdom. When the show had finished, and the credits were rolling, I came to read that Boey had now taken that place in God’s kingdom, and I was deeply saddened for the loss her family have suffered, and that Boey had to leave them so soon…I cant begin to imagine the hurt thay must feel I can only think to say that God chose them to be the parents of such a special little girl, because he Knew the plans he had for her, and the family he chose were just perfect to help her do his work on earth, and to shape her into the child sooo many people have come to know, and are inspired by. I pray for the family, that their pain of loosing Boey will lessen each day, and that their mourning will be turned into dancing. And I thanks them that trough Boey’s life we were able to see God’s love.

 Hi Byers Family, I just saw the extreme makeover show and i am totally in awe of Boey, She had the biggest smile and the brightest sparkle in her eyes all the way through the show Her words to us “belive and it will happen” are so true, she is a true inspiration to everyone. I am humbled by watching this amazing little girl give so much in her life. A little girl like her giving up her money to buy teddy bears for other children going through the same pain as her is amazing. Hello , myself and my two daughters Rae aged 13 and Reggie aged 9 have just watched extreme makeover.we live in London England and it is a tuesday evening .your daughter a tiny angel sent down from heaven has made us realize how lucky we are to be able to hold one another tonight, with no pain or illness just dreams of tomorrow . when someone as magical as your daughter is sent down to make a differance, it is up to all of us left here on earth to pass on her smile and kind and caring ways . Hold on to one another.  I have just watched Extreme makeover here in the UK and was reduced to tears watching beautiful Boey.  Byers Family, I have just finished watching Extreme Makeover. This show often moves me to tears but Boey’s story not only moved me, but inspired me. Boey must be one of the most beautiful, intelligent, mature and caring little girls i have ever seen, and her courage and determination makes me, as a 19 year old, want to be a better and braver person- your beautiful little 8 year old shows such a pure perspective of life, and meaningless worries are shown to be trivial in comparison to her brave fight against cancer. So many people in the world could learn from Boey’s example. Boey truly is an angel.
